TAPE LINE-DRAWINGS

FROM OLD TO NEW

Althoughth the medium of tape drawings are relatively knew the drawing technique of hatching and cross hatching to create a sense of depth through value has been around for hundreds of years. Albrecht Dürer was a painter, printmaker, and theorist of the German Renaissance. Born in Nuremberg, Dürer established his reputation and influence across Europe when he was still in his twenties due to his high-quality woodcut prints. When you zoom in at Durer's woodcut of the four horsemen you can clearly see his use of hatching to create intricate detail.

These same techniques are used all the time from album covers like Kembas's Negus to the graphic novels of Charles Burns

HOW DO THESE ARTISTS CREATE A CONCEPT OF DEPTH THROUGH LINES

BUFF DISS

Picture
Buff Diss is an Australian artist who has specialised in creating work with tape. His works explore the nature of line and how it can intersect space, generate volume, add texture and elements of the unexpected. Buff’s love of traditional graffiti and studies in Computer Science influenced the evolution of his unique style of art. His subjects matters range from mythical figures, nautical themes, giant hands interacting with architecture and people and geometric patterns. Buff is moving into fabrication of artworks that can easily transition from street to gallery space. He is inspired by architecture and design and aspires to integrate his work within architecture and the urban scape providing subtle and clever artistic interventions.

SITE-SPECIFIC ART

Site-specific art is artwork created to exist in a certain place. Typically, the artist takes the location into account while planning and creating the artwork.

How will your work interact with or be influenced by the environment it is placed in?
WHY ARE YOU PUTTING IT THERE??????
